Ruth M. McCarty grew up in Prospect, Connecticut with seven siblings. She now lives in Central Massachusetts, with her husband Dan. She enjoys spending time with her granddaughters, Sophie, Drea, and Lilly, and grandsons Rocco and Santino.

Her short mysteries have appeared in all Level Best Books anthologies. She has received honorable mentions in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, N.E.W.N., and mysteryauthors.com for her flash fiction and won the 2009 Derringer Award for BEST FLASH STORY for her story "No Flowers for Stacey" published in Deadfall: Crime Stories by New England Writers. She is a past president of the New England Chapter Sisters in Crime and a member of Mystery Writers of America.
